vivo has unveiled a new communications network lab in China

vivo has recently opened a new Communications Network Laboratory in Dongguan, China. The first of three construction phases, a significant investment by vivo, was completed in collaboration with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

The Lab can easily change and replicate variable frequency ranges of worldwide commercial 5G/4G networks by leveraging 5G infrastructure, including base station and core network technologies also deployed at-scale by key global operators. As a result, a large number of tests that were previously had to be done outside can now be performed accurately in the lab.

Extreme conditions such as weak signal, congested streets, and high-speed movement can also be tested in the lab, guaranteeing that vivo smartphones work well in any environment.

vivo engineers may also replicate numerous commercial situations where a variety of functions like as gaming, video calling, and live streaming occur.

From basic communication protocols to user experience, the Lab delivers multi-dimensional support for developers worldwide. It is, for example, developing testing models to improve power usage using various networks in a range of circumstances. It is also closely watching the growth of communication technologies, responding to the creation of 5G standards, including the 5G NR Release 16, to ensure that vivo users are among the first to benefit from the latest advancements.

In terms of system reliability and performance stability, a large-scale network stability test environment has been built in the lab to conduct a strict testing program of each smartphone, which includes more than 4,000 hours of uninterrupted power supply stress tests, more than 1,000 hours of data transfer tests, and more than 10,000 mobile original and terminated calls.

“The new Lab exemplifies vivo’s long-term approach on innovation and ongoing work in areas uneasily seen by consumers on the strategic performance track.” vivo will continue to boost its investments in core technologies in the future.” “Being user-oriented, vivo is committed to four long-term strategic tracks: image system, operating system, industrial design, and performance, dedicating to provide superior products and services that best meet user needs,” said Jingcai Liu, General Manager of Testing Technology and Reputation Management at vivo.
