The Division will be released as a free-to-play and mobile version

Ubisoft has announced the launch of The Division Heartland, a free-to-play game set in The Division universe and a Division mobile game.

According to Ubisoft, development on Division 2 will proceed as other teams focus on other projects. The Division Heartland will be developed by Red Storm Studio specifically. According to Ubisoft, the studio has been working on Tom Clancy games since 1997 and has worked on The Division and The Division 2, so it’ll be a great fit for the producer position.

Heartland is a stand-alone game that requires no prior knowledge of the series and instead offers a fresh take on the same world but in a different environment.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that The Division would be released on mobile devices to reach a wider audience, although no further specifics have been released as of this writing.

The Division Heartland will be released on PC, consoles, and the cloud in 2021-22. Many who are interested in participating in the early stages of the project can do so here.
