Sony Xperia Pro-I with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC Now Official, Specifications

Sony Electronics Inc. (Sony) has introduced the Sony Xperia Pro-I, a new photography and videography-focused Xperia Pro smartphone.

The Xperia Pro-I comes with a 6.5-inch HDR OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

The Xperia Pro-I is the first smartphone with a 1.0-type Exmor RS image sensor with phase detection autofocus. It was built with the same superior imaging technology as Sony’s award-winning mirrorless Alpha brand cameras.

Sony’s newest smartphone includes a 1.0-type Exmor RS sensor with a 2.4-micrometer pixel pitch, RAW 12-bit shooting, and dual aperture (F2.0/F4.0).

The Xperia Pro-I has a BIONZ X for mobile and a front-end LSI in addition to a 1.0-type sensor. This sophisticated CPU, according to Sony, enables the gadget to deliver remarkable speed and better image quality in a wide range of scenarios, a trait that is widely regarded in Sony’s Alpha cameras.

Three lenses with ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating and a 3D iToF sensor are also included in the smartphone. The new 24mm lens uses ZEISS Tessar Optics, produces high-resolution photos with less peripheral image distortion and more dramatic contrast and clarity. The 24mm lens on the Xperia PRO-I is complimented by two additional lens options: 16mm and 50mm.

In addition, the Xperia Pro-I offers 315 phase-detection AF points that cover 90% of the frame and industry-leading AF technology such as Real-time Eye-AF in humans and animals, Real-time tracking 20fps AF/AE burst shooting, and anti-distortion shutter for recording fast-moving objects.

The Xperia Pro-I can shoot 4K video at up to 120 frames per second for 5x slow motion. This smartphone also has a separate shutter button that uses the same shutter switch module as Sony’s RX100 series cameras and has comparable button strokes for AF and shutter release.

Meanwhile, Sony has announced the new Vlog Monitor, a new accessory for the Xperia Pro-I that features a 3.5-inch LCD (1280 x 720) screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a metal holder. This new item also has a magnetic construction that may be removed.
