PLDT recently announced the completion of a project to use fiber optic cable (FOC) linkages to connect the islands and provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, Samar, Negros, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Panay to the rest of the country and the rest of the world.
According to the Manila Bulletin, PLDT completed its Enhanced Resiliency of DFON Loops 4 and 5 project (eRDL45), which includes over 2,000 kilometers of undersea and inland FOC lines to make the network more resilient and capable of supporting future services such as 5G. The project is part of PLDT Group’s ongoing network investments.
Homes and businesses in the island provinces can now use PLDT Home’s fiber services thanks to the recently activated FOCs.
