Ookla: Philippines mobile internet at 19.20 Mbps, and fixed broadband at 50.26 Mbps, for December 2021

The Philippines’ average mobile internet download speed is 19.20 Mbps, while the average fixed broadband download speed is 50.26 Mbps, according to Ookla’s latest Speedtest Global Index for December 2021.

According to Ookla, the Speedtest Global Index rankings are now based on median download speed to reflect better the speeds that a user is likely to attain in an area. Furthermore, until February 15, 2022, the average performance can be displayed. Only median data will be accessible after February 15, 2022.

The Philippines is ranked 89th for mobile and 63rd for fixed broadband based on median performance. On the other side, the country ranks 65th in mobile and 63rd in fixed broadband, with mobile speeds of 42.22 Mbps and fixed speeds of 82.61 Mbps, respectively.

The median is a statistic that depicts the average user’s experience, according to Ookla. Outliers are less likely to influence the median than the mean in statistical terms. When considering a simple number set of ten values, the graphic below shows how median and mean produce different results.

During Q4 2021, Smart had the fastest media download in the Philippines at 220.89 Mbps, while Caloocan had the fastest median download speed among the Philippines’ most populous cities at 25.24 Mbps.
