Ookla March 2022: Internet speeds in the Philippines continue to improve

Ookla reported gains in both mobile and fixed broadband speeds in its most recent assessment on internet speeds in the Philippines. The median mobile speed grew by 3.14 percent from 18.79 Mbps in February to 19.38 Mbps in March. Meanwhile, the median fixed broadband speed increased to 52.16 Mbps in March from 49.10 Mbps in February. This constituted a 6.23 percent change.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s responsibility to accelerate advances in telecom services and ensuring that the country’s internet speed and quality stay up with the rest of Southeast Asia, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The “common tower” policy, whose rules were released through their Department Circular (DC) No. 008, s. 2020, is one of the new policies.
