Official NBA jerseys are coming to Fortnite this week

In Fortnite, you’ll soon be able to fight to the death while representing your favorite NBA team.

Epic Games has announced the latest partnership for its battle royale title, which includes new purchasable characters wearing the jerseys of all 30 NBA teams. They’ll be available in-game beginning May 21st, alongside basketball-themed emotes and tiny basketball net backpacks. As part of the collaboration, two NBA stars — Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young — have hand-picked Fortnite lockers that players will be able to buy beginning next week.

This is just the latest example of Epic’s efforts to incorporate sports into Fortnite. There was a partnership with the NFL in 2018, nearly two dozen soccer clubs and a virtual version of Brazilian superstar Neymar were featured in the game.

The NBA collaboration shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering that some information — including a reference to an arcade-style Fortnite basketball game and an event involving LeBron James — were revealed as part of the ongoing Apple vs. Epic trial. Some of it could still be on the way. Epic says there will be NBA-related news for Fortnite’s creative mode next week, with specifics on May 25th.
