Microsoft Office for Android gains a dedicated dark mode

Because most paper is white, digital document editors display black text on a white background by default. However, since paper reflects light and screens emit light, many phone users prefer to read white text on a black backdrop.

And it appears that several of them have been requesting that Microsoft allow Dark mode in the Office app for Android. Their dream has finally come true; they can now access and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents without being blinded by bright light.

Today is the first day of the update’s rollout. After you’ve installed it, go to the Home tab and tap on the Profile icon, then go to Settings and choose between the Light and Dark themes. You can also choose System Default to make Office conform to your operating system’s settings (great if you have it set on a schedule).

Dark Mode was already available in the Microsoft Office app for iPhone and iPad, as well as Outlook for iOS and Android.
