Mastercard files 15 trademarks linked to the metaverse and NFT

According to recent filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mastercard is prepared to enter the Metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT) markets.

According to Cointelegraph, Mastercard’s applications include, among other things, proposals for a virtual community for digital assets, payment processing in the Metaverse, an online marketplace for digital commodities, and virtual reality events.

There’s also a trademark application for the company’s “Priceless” phrase to be used to symbolize digital commodities like “downloadable multimedia assets containing artwork, text, audio, and video validated by NFTs.”

As of this writing, there is little information available on Mastercard’s entry into the Metaverse and NFT markets because the business has yet to issue a formal statement or announcement.
