Instagram has launched a feature that prevents inappropriate comments and direct messages (DMs)

Instagram has previously implemented features aimed at preventing abuse on its platform. They’ve introduced a fresh set of features to help it out this time.

Instagram has announced the launch of “Limits,” a feature that allows users to automatically hide comments and DM requests from people who do not follow them or have recently followed them. According to Instagram, much vitriol directed at famous personalities comes from those who don’t follow them or have recently started following them, simply heaping on the pressure. Everyone on Instagram will be able to set their limits. This feature can be turned on or off in your privacy settings.

The platform’s current warning function is the foundation for the next feature. Rather than waiting for a second or third potentially harmful comment before showing the community guidelines, Instagram will do so right away.

The final feature is Instagram’s Hidden Words feature, which allows users to automatically filter offensive words, phrases, and emoticons into a Hidden folder. It also detects spammy or low-quality DM requests. Instagram had previously only made this function available in a few countries, but it will be available to everyone worldwide by the end of the month.

Accordingly, a list of potentially objectionable terms, hashtags, and emoticons will be updated regularly. Furthermore, Instagram included a new “Hide More Comments” opt-in option that could be damaging, even if it does not contravene the rules.

Instagram has stated that it will do everything possible to combat hate on its platform and invest in groups that promote racial justice and equity.
