How to check if your Facebook Data has been Leaked Online?

In recent days there have been reports that 533 million Facebook user data has been leaked online.

Due to a large-scale leak affecting 533 million global users on the said social media site, According to the NPC or National Privacy Commission, 879,699 Filipino netizens’ Facebook accounts are allegedly compromised.

Visit the “Have I Been Pwned” website to see if your account is one of the 899,699 that have been compromised. Have I Been Pwned is a website that lets you check multiple data breaches to see if your email address or phone number has been compromised.

When you visit the website, you will be asked to include your phone number or email address. If you enter your email or phone number, it will tell you whether or not you have been pwned.

If you are pwned, it will display a list of data breaches from websites where you have registered with your email or phone number. You’ll also be able to see what kind of data was compromised by scrolling down.

In addition, the Have I Been Pwned website recommends three measures to improve security.

1. Protect yourself using 1Password to generate and save strong passwords for each website.
2. Enable two-factor authentication and store the codes inside your 1Password account.
3. Subscribe to notification for any other breaches. Then just change that unique password.
