Google introduces tech capable of reading your doctor’s handwriting

Google debuted on Monday an AI capable of reading handwritten medical prescriptions.

According to the search engine giant, they are collaborating closely with pharmacists to develop an AI-assisted model for digitizing and deciphering such documents.

“This will serve as an assistive technology for digitizing handwritten medical documents by augmenting humans such as pharmacists,” Google told TechCrunch in a statement. “However, no decision will be made solely based on the output provided by this technology.”

Google also tweeted a demonstration of the feature’s simplicity, which is comparable to using Google Lens. View the sample below.

It may already have a solid appearance, but it is still a research prototype and Google has not committed to releasing it to the public.
