Globe’s VoLTE service is now available to postpaid customers in 94% of the country’s cities

Due to Globe’s efforts to deliver a better mobile experience for its customers, Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) service is now accessible to postpaid customers in 94 percent of the country’s cities.

The telco claims that its network rollout and modernization and site expansions have given customers another means to communicate with loved ones, relatives and take care of work-from-home and online learning-related difficulties.

“We currently have 30% of our postpaid customers using VoLTE,” says the company. In terms of consumer uptake, we see a consistent monthly growth rate of roughly 8%. We believe that more customers will sign up for this new service in the coming months since it provides an excellent customer experience and gives them the power to select what works best for them,” said Globe Chief Commercial Officer Issa Guevarra-Cabreira.

Instead of the traditional voice networks used by 2G and 3G, VoLTE is the standard high-speed wireless connection for mobile phones using 4G LTE.

VoLTE has several advantages over traditional voice services on 2G and 3G networks. It has three times the voice capacity of 3G and up to six times that of 2G, allowing the network to handle more users making calls simultaneously, allowing for faster call setup, clearer sound quality, and fewer dropped calls.

VoLTE also allows users to connect to the internet while on the phone, allowing for uninterrupted mobile surfing, which is notably helpful for online gaming and video streaming.

Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), also known as WiFi Calling, is a complement to VoLTE that helps with indoor mobile coverage issues like voice calls that are affected by the distance between the mobile phone and the nearest network tower, building walls that block wireless signals, and poor signal inside a home or building. VoWiFi can alleviate these issues by allowing users to use their existing WiFi connection to make phone calls, depending on their WiFi service’s capacity and signal strength and the presence of a VoWiFi-capable mobile phone.

VoLTE and VoWiFi calls work the same way as conventional calls and are charged the same way (unli VoLTE and VoWiFi call apply if registered to a Globe unli call promo). VoWiFi is also compatible with any WiFi network.

Customers’ reactions to VoLTE and VoWiFi have been overwhelmingly positive. VoWiFi, according to some consumers, is a “lifesaver” and “extremely beneficial in making calls even while they are inside their homes in their separate subdivisions.”

Customers in places where VoLTE is already accessible can verify if their phone is VoLTE-capable, learn about new VoLTE-ready locations, and learn everything they need to know about VoLTE by visiting our Online FAQs. For further information, Globe prepaid clients can consult the online FAQs.

Cabreira also stated that plans are in the works to reach the remaining 6% of the country that are not covered by Globe’s VoLTE service.
