Globe Installs 641 New Cell Towers, Completes Over 8,100 Site Upgrades in the first half 2021

In Pangasinan, Misamis Oriental, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Siquijor, and Guimaras, for example, it is upgrading its obsolete 3G network to 4G LTE.

“These expansions and site enhancements will provide our clients in these provinces with improved call, SMS, and data browsing capabilities. As we promised earlier this year, we wanted to improve our customers’ mobile experiences not only in metropolitan regions but also in rural areas to make them more inclusive and accessible,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

The new Globe installations are spread over Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, and Iloilo, with 31 in Pangasinan, 26 in Nueva Ecija, and 16 in Iloilo.

In addition, 364 site upgrades have been completed in Pangasinan, 362 in Misamis Oriental, 297 in Nueva Ecija, 275 in Negros Oriental, and 183 in Iloilo.

“Despite the travel and health limitations placed across the country as a result of the pandemic, Globe has remained committed to providing consumers with better and more engaging mobile experiences. “Those who are still using 3G SIMs should upgrade to a 5G-ready 4G/LTE SIM right now to get the most out of their call, text, and data browsing services,” Agustin added.

Globe has already surpassed the 600,000 FTTH connections it planned to install in 2020 at the end of June.

Globe has been encouraging its customers to switch to 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards for the past two years to take advantage of the new technology’s perks and advantages.
