Globe has obtained around 800 permits to construct new towers

On Monday, GLOBE Telecom, Inc. stated that it had obtained over 800 permits to construct additional cell towers across the United States.

Globe stated in an emailed statement that it acquired 219 permits in various places in North Luzon and 191 more in the Visayas. “In the National Capital Region, local government units issued 179 permits, while in Mindanao and South Luzon, local government units issued 113 and 97 permits, respectively.”

In the first quarter of this year, the permits were obtained.

“The provinces with the most permits were Metro Manila, Cebu, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, and Davao del Sur. According to Globe, “thirteen other provinces have awarded ten or more permits.”

Makati had the most (56), followed by Cebu (39), Davao City (33), Manila (27), and Pasig City (26). (25).

According to Globe, erecting new cell towers takes time. “Installing a new tower will take at least three months, depending on its location, accessibility, logistics, and quarantine protocols in the area where we obtained the permits,” said Joel R. Agustin, Globe senior vice-president for program delivery, network technical group.

“We would like to assure our customers, however, that we will build the new cell sites as soon as possible,” he added.

This year, Globe plans to install 2,000 additional cell sites.

In the first three months of this year, the telco added 318 new cell towers across the country.

On Monday, Globe shares fell 0.28 percent to P1,806 per share.
