Globe Connects Europe and the United States with 5G Roaming: Partners with Telia Business, Telecom Italia, and AT&T

Through forming alliances with telco companies throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America, Globe is dedicated to achieving the world’s largest 5G coverage and bringing the #1stWorldNetwork to its customers.

Globe has already launched 5G roaming in the following European countries, in collaboration with Telia Company, as of April 30: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Globe roamers in Italy will be able to use 5G technology starting June 3, thanks to Telecom Italia.

“Despite the setback in both business and leisure travels caused by the global pandemic, we are firm in our vision for our customers to readily experience the power of 5G technology once the world is open and safe for traveling,” said Coco Domingo, Globe Vice President for Postpaid and International.

Globe is keeping up with the global rollout of 5G-enabled smart cities to improve overall customer travel experiences, particularly in the areas of retail, entertainment, and healthcare.

Globe’s Roam Surf 3991 provides all-day surfing for Postpaid customers and 1GB of data for Prepaid customers for 24 hours. Travelers can activate this promotion once they are outside of the United States, but they must use 5G-enabled devices and be in one of Globe’s 5G partner locations to reap the benefits of 5G. Roamers can expect superfast speeds, clearer video and voice calls, and seamless live streaming on social media once their account is activated.

Globe’s 5G network is live and available in 16 countries, thanks to partnerships with 12 telecommunications companies: Ooredoo in Kuwait and Qatar; STC in Saudi Arabia; Taiwan Mobile in Taiwan; AIS Thailand in Thailand; Du and Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates; CSL in Hong Kong; SK Telecom in South Korea; Singtel in Singapore; Turkcell in Turkey.

Globe will also launch 5G in Sweden with Swisscom in Q2 2021, as well as announce additional North American locations in partnership with AT&T.

Foreign customers who have signed up for Globe’s 5G-ready partners will be able to use Globe’s 5G network in the Philippines as long as their devices are compatible: SK Telecom of South Korea; Taiwan Mobile of Taiwan; Singtel of Singapore; Ooredoo of Qatar and Kuwait; CSL of Hong Kong; AIS of Thailand; Optimus of Portugal; and Telia of Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Denmark.

Globe is committed to providing 5G roaming services to customers in international destinations. This modernization effort is in line with Globe’s goal of implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly UN SDG No. 9, which encourages society to seek solutions to develop infrastructure, industries, and innovation sustainably.
