GCash plans to launch a “Buy Now, Pay Later” service

This year, mobile wallet GCash plans to launch a “Buy Now, Pay Later” service.

In a statement, GCash stated that the service is intended to address financial challenges that its users may face during the pandemic and beyond.

“As a driver of financial inclusion, our goal is clear: to alleviate the friction felt by unbanked and underserved Filipinos,” said Martha Sazon, president and CEO of GCash.

“Having said that, we are also a very collaborative institution. Financial organizations with similar visions are welcome to collaborate with us; we seek to enable rather than compete with them as we work toward financial inclusion,” Sazon said.

GCash also announced the launch of GLoan, a new service that allows qualified users to borrow up to P25,000 over 12 months.
