Facebook announces ‘Ray-Ban Stories’ smart sunglasses

Ray-Ban Stories, a new range of smart sunglasses that can take photographs and video, was just announced by Facebook and Ray-Ban.

Ray-Ban Stories are smart glasses developed in collaboration with Facebook and EssilorLuxottica that allow you to not only shoot images and videos, but also listen to music and make phone calls. Two 5MP cameras, three microphones, two speakers, a touch panel, and an LED indicator light are included.

It also works with Facebook’s new View app, allowing you to share your stories on social media. On iOS and Android, the Facebook View app lets you import, edit, and share content taken on the smart glasses to apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and more. You can also save content directly to your camera roll and edit it from there. In addition, Facebook View has an exclusive post-capture improvement.

Ray-Ban Stories include built-in privacy safeguards that may be managed through an app. All content is shared with the user’s permission, and taking a photo or video requires the use of the glasses physically. The Facebook View app also allows you to customize voice commands, as well as capture and notification choices. The LED indicator light also informs users and others that someone is now capturing or recording a photo or video.

Ray-Ban Stories come in 20 different styles, including Wayfarer, Wayfarer Large, Round, and Meteor, as well as five different colors and lenses, including clear, sun, transition, and prescription. Ray-Bay Stories will cost USD 299 at retail.
