DITO Telecommunity said on Friday that it now has over 9 million users, a huge increase from the 1 million it had in June of last year.
DITO will begin offering services in March 2021. It is currently preparing for its third-year technical audit, which is scheduled to take place in July, according to a statement.
“Hitting milestone after milestone, DITO is once again preparing for the yearly government audit and is confident of hitting 70 percent of the country’s population shortly before July 2022, allowing it to finally go head-to-head against the country’s two legacy MNOs in terms of presence,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said.
The country’s third telecom has now expanded its network coverage to over 540 cities and municipalities.
It claims to have built nearly 5,000 cellular towers, over 100 data centers, and over 30,000 kilometers of fiber cable to connect the archipelago.
“We in DITO are serious about our commitments to weave Filipino communities using the DITO brand of connectivity and will move further forward to deliver,” Tamano said.
Rodolfo Santiago, DITO’s chief technology officer, previously stated that the telecom is only a few hundred people away from fulfilling its third-year goal of covering 70% of the population by July.
