Converge ICT says may give free boost up to 100 Mbps this year

Converge ICT Solutions’ chief executive officer Dennis Anthony Uy stated that if the company’s target subscriber count is met by the end of 2021, they “will offer” a free speed boost of up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps).

Converge launched permanent speed improvements for customers after it crossed one million subscribers at the end of 2020.

On Wednesday, May 19, Uy said the free boost could happen again on ANC’s Market Edge.

“Last year, we reached the one-million mark. That’s why I decided to give a free boost to all our consumers. If they were subscribed to 25 Mbps, we gave them 35 Mbps,” Uy said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“This year, end of the year, if we reach 1.6 million or 1.7 million subscribers, we can give another boost of up to 50 Mbps or 100 Mbps. We can do that. We open up the speed our consumers deserve.”

The only pure-play fixed broadband provider in the Philippines, Converge can compete with neighboring countries, added Uy.

“We can compete with our Asian peers – even Singapore, Korea, and Hong Kong. Because the technology they are using and what I’m using right now is the same,” the Converge CEO said.

Uy hinted at expanding their bandwidth offering to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps).

“In due time, I think, down the road, this bandwidth, we will open up. Up to 1 Gbps to the home.… We have that technology right now,” he said.

Converge’s existing plans range from P1,500 per month for 35 Mbps to P7,000 per month for 800 Mbps.

Converge unveiled a new product offering for residential customers in March, allowing them to have double the bandwidth they had before during peak hours. Plans start at P1,899 for 35 Mbps with a boosted speed of 70 Mbps and go all the way up to P4,899 for 400 Mbps with a boosted speed of 800 Mbps.

This adaptability feature is available to enterprise and small business subscribers as well.
