Acer Comes Out on Tops PH computer sales in 2021

Acer has reclaimed the top spot in the Philippine PC market for 2021. In the country’s desktop, laptop, and workstation market, the corporation had a 27 percent market share.

From 394,000 units sold in 2020 to 347,000 units sold in 2019, Acer Philippines sold 561,000 units in 2021. Online learning and work-from-home arrangements aided this performance. In 2021, the country sold 1.72 million PCs from various brands, up from 1.35 million in 2020 and 1.34 million in 2019. PCs were in tremendous demand worldwide, with 350 million machines supplied.

Notebooks increased their consumer market share from 73 percent before the epidemic to 84 percent in 2021. The percentage of notebooks in the business market increased from 30% in 2018 to 69 percent in 2021.

In the Philippines in 2021, pandemic-related quarantines and lockdowns fueled increase in gaming and entertainment-related PC sales. Acer’s gaming notebook sales nearly quadrupled to 113,000 units, up from 75,000 in 2020 and 38,000 in 2019.

According to IDC, PC demand will remain strong this year due to the uncertainty surrounding potential pandemic outbreaks, which means businesses, schools, and consumers will want to be prepared for another lockdown. Another aspect that could fuel development is corporate digitization; as e-commerce grows, private sector expenditure will increase.
