Xiaomi introduces their first humanoid robot, CyberOne

Xiaomi recently unveiled CyberOne, the company’s first humanoid robot, at a product launch event in Beijing on August 11, along with other Xiaomi items.

CyberOne is the latest addition to Xiaomi’s Cyber line, which included the release of a quadrupled robot dubbed Cyberdog last year. CyberOne is meant to detect human emotion, has advanced visual capabilities, and a capability that allows the robot to produce a 3D virtual reconstruction of the real environment, all of which work in tandem with other cutting-edge technology.

“CyberOne’s AI and mechanical capabilities are all self-developed by Xiaomi Robotics Lab. We have invested heavily in R&D spanning various areas, including software, hardware, and algorithms innovation,” says Lei Jun, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group.

“With AI at its core and a full-size humanoid frame as its vessel, this is an exploration of possibilities of Xiaomi’s future technological ecosystem and a new breakthrough for the company.”

CyberOne stands 177cm tall, weighs 52Kg, and has a 168cm arm span. In comparison to Cyberdog (quadruped robot), this humanoid robot necessitates a more complicated mechanical framework in order to accommodate more powerful motors, improved degrees of freedom, and complex humanoid biped control algorithms. The humanoid robot can move with up to 21 degrees of freedom and has a real-time response time of 0.5ms for each degree of freedom, allowing CyberOne to fully mimic human movements.
