PLDT recently received recognition as the nation’s fastest ISP at the Ookla Speedtest Award for Q1–Q2 of 2022. Now, PLDT has reached a new milestone by being named the fastest and best mobile network in the nation by Smart.
Being named Best Mobile Network is an elite achievement, given that only 20 mobile operators globally have received it since the Ookla Speedtest began in 2017. Smart is the first and only mobile provider in the Philippines to do so. For a mobile operator to win this prize, they must simultaneously lead in both the fastest mobile network and the best mobile coverage throughout the testing period.
Based on the most recent Ookla’s Speedtest Awards for “Fastest Mobile Network,” which span Q1-Q2 of 2022, Smart leads Globe with a Speed Score of 62.22 compared to 32.48 for Globe. The median download and upload speeds of Smart, which are 24.26 Mbps and 6.59 Mbps respectively, earned it this distinction.
Smart beats Globe for the Best Mobile Coverage with a Coverage score of 794. According to Ookla’s research, “The Coverage Score reflects both the number of locations (an operator’s footprint) in which it offers service and the quality of service in each place.
