DITO intends to hit 70% coverage this month

DITO TELECOMMUNITY Corp. intends to reach 70 percent population coverage this month, allowing it to enhance its subscriber base.

In 2019, the National Telecommunications Commission granted a certificate of public convenience and necessity specifying the company’s mandate, which includes the coverage goals.

Adel A. Tamano, chief administrative officer of DITO, stated in a statement, “Penetration of more regions implies we gain a larger market share.”

He observed that as competition increases, telecoms providers compete to provide superior customer service.

This year, the firm has earmarked P50 billion for its expansion, with the goal of being commercially available in 840 areas of the country by the end of the year.

DITO reported that it has over nine million active subscribers. It anticipates having 12 million users by December. PLDT, Inc.’s Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart and TNT) has 70,3 million mobile users as of March 2022, while Globe Telecom, Inc. had 87,4 million mobile subscribers.

Using statistics from the worldwide monitoring firm Ookla, DITO asserted that it has already “made a dent in the supremacy of its principal competitors.”
