Cebuana Lhuillier and Western Union have collaborated to launch digital money transfers via the eCebuana (or eCeb) mobile app, which includes an embedded micro-savings account.

Customers will be able to receive and send money transfers using the digital money transfer service. As an alternative to retail pick-up, recipients in the Philippines can direct a Western Union international money transfer directly into the eCebuana app 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It should be noted that the ability to send money locally or globally will be available next year. This service expansion comes on the heels of the recent launch of Western Union services, which allow customers to send and receive money at over 2,500 Cebuana Lhullier locations throughout the Philippines.
Recipients can choose to receive their funds via the eCebuana app in three steps:
• eCebuana users must simply select the receive money service.
• Select Western Union and input the MTCN.
• After submitting the required information and successfully inputting the OTP provided through SMS, Western Union will automatically be credited to their micro-savings account.
Customers with a Micro Savings account can use their 24K Debit card to pay cashless at any accredited retail store or withdraw funds from any of the 21,000 ATMs nationwide. Customers can also use the funds for in-app services such as bill payment, load purchases, and direct remittances to other Micro Savings accounts, Cebuana Lhullier branches, or any other bank account.
The eCebuana app is available for both Android and iOS devices.
